Undergraduate Degree in Biology

Overview

 

The Undergraduate Degree in Biology provides adequate knowledge of the structure, function and interaction of living organisms, as well as the application of this knowledge in the professional field of Biology. More specifically, the study of the composition and function of the biomolecules (Biochemistry, Molecular Biology and Genetics); the organistaion of cells (Cytology, Histology); plants (Botany) and animals (Zooology); microorganisms (Microbiology, Virology, Parasitology); the functional aspects of living things (Animal and Plant Physiology); the phenomena of inheritance (Genetics); the relationship between living organisms and their enviroment (Ecology); Immunity, Evolutionary Biology, Geology, Paleontology.

The Undergraduate Degree in Biology, included in the branches of Science, began at USAL in the 2009-10 academic year. It consists of 240 ECTS distributed as follows: Core modules: 60; Compulsory modules: 144; Elective modules: 24; Work placement: 12 (or two elective modules); and Final Year Project: 12.
