Undergraduate Degree in Political Science and Public Administration

Overview

The newly adapted Undergraduate Degree course in Political Science and Public Administration will commence in the 2013-14 academic year, once it has received verification from ACSUCyL. Therefore the Diploma in Public Administration and Management will end and students from the diploma will pass into the Undergraduate Degree in Political Science and Public Administration. The Undergraduate Degree in Political Science and Public Administration will commence at USAL in the 2010-2011 academic year, once it has passed the verification process, and replace the Bachelors Degree in Political Science and Administration and the Diploma in Public Administration and Management. 

This Undergraduate Degree provides the students with an in-depth knowledge about political life and the structure and the running of Public Administrations.

This enhances the professional projection towards different levels of public administration, the area of politics, and teaching and research in various institutional fields.

The degree lasts 4 years (60 ECTS credits per year, 240 to be completed overall) and is made up of semester long modules. The first five semesters are compulsory and are shared by all students. They are made up of 6 ECTS modules (60 ECTS for core modules and 150 ECTS for compulsory modules). From the sixth semester the students can choose between two specific pathways; Political Science or Public Administration. Each pathway consists of compulsory and elective modules from the chosen field of study. The elective modules (22.5 ECTS, including voluntary work placements for 9 ECTS) and the Final Year Project (7.5 ECTS) are scheduled for the last year.
