Undergraduate Degree in Food Engineering

Overview

The Undergraduate Degree in Food engineering will be offered by the USAL from the academic year 2010-11, following the full approval by the ACSUCyL. This programme replaces the former BS in Agriculture engineering.

This programme qualifies students to work as regulated Technical Agriculture Engineers (Regulation CIN/323/2009 - 9th Februrary establishes the requirements for a univerisity degree which trains students to become professionals in the area of technical agriculture engineering).

The degree takes 4 years to complete (60 ECTS per year, 240 in total) and consists of five modules composed by semester long subjects. The first module constists of 10 basic subjects (69 ECTS) which are delivered over the first and second year. The second module is common in the Agriculture branch (60 ECTS) and is integrated with 11 subjects taught over the four years. The third module is Specific Technology: Agricultural and Food Industries (81 ECTS), and is structured in 16 subjects which are delivered over the four years. The fourth module is made up of electives (18 ECTS) and such subjects are taught in third and fourth year. Finally, the Fourth Year Project (12 ECTS) is planned for the second semester of the final year.
