Latin American Antropology

Overview

The master programme in Latin American Antropology is jointly offered by the Universities of Salamanca, Valladolid and León. It places the focus on applied antropology in order to discover the cultures from Latin America. Moreover, a few elective modules deal with sociological aspects and general humanities relating to ethnology within the aforementioned socio-cultural area. The comparative and cross-cultural approach which is recommended in order to successfully carry out the research work will be highly relevant when delving into the relations between Latin America and Spain. Among the topics which students will be dealing with are: indigenism, emigration, the education system, international relation, turism, heritage, co-operation, etc .
Based on the experience of the last ten years in which the Doctorate programme in the same subject has been offered in these same three universities (Salamanca, Valladolid, Leon), the Master programme in Latin American Antropology aims to foster research and the creation of new professional experts in Spain and Latin America who would work in the socio-cultural area of all the peoples that conform the cultural community. Also, it aims to encourage comparative studies and raise the awareness around interculturalism in Latin America, thereby examining and promoting the integration of the different cultural commnunities whose roots are indignenous, African, Iberian, or more genrally Latin.
