Undergraduate Degree in Economics

Overview

The Undergraduate Degree in Economics will commence at USAL in the 2010-11 academic year, once it has passed the verification process (ANECA and The Univerity Council).

The curriculum of 240 ECTS are structured into 5 modules: 1) Economic Analysis 2) Quantitative Methods, 3) Economic Environment and Institutional Framework, 4) Business environment, 5) Final Year Project and Work Placement (voluntary).

The degree lasts four years. In the first three years the core and compulsory subjects will be taught (180 credits ECTS), while the fourth year is devoted to the teaching of elective modules (54 credits), Final Year Project (6 credits) and optional work placements.

In order to assist the students in the process of choosing elective modules, the modules are organized into 4 different routes because of the similarities in subject material. There routes are mere indicators and do not intent to restrict the students ability to make informed choices. They are as follows:1) Economics and Public Policy, 2) Applied Economics for Business, 3) Fundamentals of Economic Analysis and 4) International Economics. These open routes (as that they do not cover all of the elective modules) set the thematic framework for the Final Year Project.
