Undergraduate Degree in Geography
Overview
The undergraduate degree in Geography was first offered at the University of Salamanca in the 2010-11 academic year after passing the verification process, replacing the 'Licenciatura' (former degree system) in Geography.
This degree provides students with a solid foundation in theory and methodology, as well as with the technique and equipment that will prepare them to analyse processes and recommend solutions that help to alleviate or resolve various challenges on a spatial basis. It is in this specific environment where students show and express political, economic, social and environmental facts and phenomena that, out of the complexity of human and spatial relations, make up today's world.
The course lasts 4 years (60 ECTS per year in order to complete 240) and is organised in modules, the majority of which are made up of 6 ECTS: of basic training (60 ECTS), obligatory subjects (132 ECTS), electives (30 ECTS), external obligatory work experience placements (6 ECTS) and a final degree project (12 ECTS).
The external work experience will be carried out in companies or institutions appropriate to the different career profiles of the geography student: Geografical information technology; Physical environment, natural resources and the environment; Territorial, environmental and urban planning and management; Territorial and socioeconomical analysis and Regional and local development.
