Undergraduate Degree in Geology
Overview
The undergraduate degree in Geography was first offered at the University of Salamanca in the 2010-11 academic year after passing the verification process, replacing the 'Licenciatura' (former degree system) in Geology.
This degree is a general, unspecialised qualification, that offers basic training in Geology and that qualifies as professional geological experience for any profession that relates to Geology and its scientific, technical and teaching development.
The course lasts 4 years (60 ECTS per year in order to complete 240) and is organised in modules of basic training (63 ECTS), obligatory subjects (132 ECTS), electives (36 ECTS) and a final degree Project (9 ECTS).
Fieldwork is an essential activity in the training of a professional Geologist. A total of 22.4 ECTS are dedicated to this basic training (3.6) and obligatory (18.8) subjects. Furthermore, up to 16 ECTS of additional field work, shared between 12 of the 18 elective modules are offered.
