Latin American studies
Overview
The official masters degree in Latin American Studies, Official Postgraduate Programme at the University of Salamanca, was adopted by agreement 15/2006 of 9 February, of the Council of Castille and León. It aims to contribute to the university development and training of our knowledge of the Latin American reality, providing general courses alongside those of a more specialized nature.
This Masters follows the guidelines of the European Higher Education Area(EHEA), with emphasis on developing the skills and abilities of the students, providing them with the necessary skills profile to face a career, academic or research based in areas directly related to the Latin American reality.
Firstly, this programme aims to develop knowledge of, and the learning skills to explore, the contemporary reality of Latin America from a multidisciplinary perspective. This perspective is typical of an Interuniversity Institute in which researchers and teachers from wide ranging Fields of Knowledge join forces but are chiefly drawn from the Humanities and Social and Legal Sciences.
Secondly, priority is given to specific skills development training for professionals wishing to join agencies or organizations with a clearly international vocation, the field of social communication, political consultation and finally, the field of university education for those interested in continuing their education in a doctoral programme. In this sense, the programme is closely linked to the Doctorate in Latin American Studies, which aims to develop learning skills and knowledge about the contemporary reality of Latin America from a multidisciplinary perspective.
